Hiking in Teno

Hiking routes in Teno from Los Silos

Euphorbia Suites sits at the gateway to the Teno Rural Park, one of the best places to walk in Tenerife: deep ravines, laurel forest, sea cliffs and small villages where people still farm the land. From Los Silos you can drive to most trailheads in a short time.

Monte del Agua: from Erjos to Los Silos

One of the most beautiful walks in the north. It goes through a damp, lush laurel forest and down to the coast at Los Silos. It is a long walk, mostly downhill, so plan a car or taxi up to Erjos.

Teno Alto

A shepherds' hamlet high on the massif, with meadows, stone walls and Atlantic views. There are easy walks around the village and tougher paths down towards Buenavista del Norte.

Punta de Teno

The north-west tip of the island, with its lighthouse and views of the Los Gigantes cliffs. Private cars are restricted on the road at some times, so check access before you go.

Masca

The village and its gorge are famous worldwide. The gorge trail has an access system run by the Tenerife island council (Cabildo); check the current rules before planning your walk.

Tips for hiking in Teno

  • Bring water, hiking boots and a warm layer: the weather on the peaks changes fast and fog is common.
  • Check trail status on the Cabildo de Tenerife website before you set off.
  • If you'd rather go with a guide, just ask us: we work with Touring Canarias, a local team of licensed mountain guides.
