Things to do in Los Silos and Isla Baja

Los Silos is a quiet village in north-west Tenerife, surrounded by banana plantations, between the sea and the Teno mountains. Together with Garachico, El Tanque and Buenavista del Norte it forms the Isla Baja, one of the most authentic areas of the island. Here is what we recommend seeing during your stay at Euphorbia Suites.

Los Silos old town

Stroll around Plaza de la Luz, with its church and traditional Canarian houses. The old convent houses a visitor centre for the Teno Rural Park, a good place to get information before you go hiking.

The coast and natural pools

The coast around Los Silos is wild and volcanic, with seaside walks, pebble coves and natural rock pools for swimming. When the sea is calm they are perfect; when the waves are big, enjoy them from a distance.

Garachico

A few minutes' drive away is Garachico, one of the prettiest historic towns in the Canary Islands: cobbled streets, San Miguel castle and the El Caletón natural pools, formed by the lava of the 1706 eruption.

Buenavista del Norte and Teno

To the west, Buenavista del Norte has a well-kept old town and is the gateway to the Teno Rural Park: Teno Alto, Masca and the Punta de Teno lighthouse. If you like walking, see our page on hiking in Teno.

Local food

Try the guachinches (small family-run eateries) in the hills, local goat's cheese, Isla Baja bananas and wines from the Ycoden-Daute-Isora denomination of origin.
